Security personnel for Deputy President William Ruto

I absolutely concur that DP Ruto should have enough security personnel for himself, his family, and his residence. In any country the second powerful person should have sufficient security funded by taxpayers.

What is appalling me, and perhaps most Kenyans is listening to parliamentary select committee proceedings and realize that the Deputy President of Kenya is allocated 257 security personnel, which is more than some counties or districts. This is a very shameful situation in a third world country, where the government is struggling to provide enough security personnel to the public.

When there was an uproar on social media Kenyans complaining about the withdraw of security personnel by government, DP Ruto took advantage of it, and took photos of himself with APs. These photos were then awash on social media platforms for political agenda.

It was later confirmed that, the government was just doing a routine reorganization of security personnel. The number of security personnel for DP was not reduced as alleged by propagandists.

Then I wonder why should such a senior government officer take advantage of this situation for political mileage? Instead he should have come out to make a speech like the way he did with BBI to calm down Kenyans (his supporters). The DP’s credibility and integrity is questionable.
