After Dr William Ruto was declared as President-elect by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Chebukati on 15th August, an elite GSU squad was arrayed at his residence in Sugoi, Uasin Gishu County.

A committee headed by the Secretary of the Cabinet and other state officials in various ministries oversees the assumption of office of the president-elect.
The Kenya law states that upon the announcement of the final results of a presidential election, the Assumption of the Office of President Committee ensures that the President-elect and Deputy President-elect are provided adequate security.
In article 11, it states: “Public officers are also supposed to provide required information.” “A public officer who fails to comply with the provisions of this section commits an offence and is liable, on conviction, to a fine not exceeding one million shillings or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years, or to both.”
In other news President-elect Dr Ruto will meet governors and their deputies, senators, Members of the National Assembly and Woman Representatives under the Kenya Kwanza Alliance in the just concluded General Election today.
A similar gathering by the Azimio la Umoja Raila Odinga will also take place at the Kenyatta International Convention Center(KICC) at the same time.
Dr. Ruto and Mr. Gachagua would subsequently meet with elected County Assembly members affiliated with Kenya Kwanza in the regions where they were chosen to serve, claims UDA secretary general Ms. Maina.
