CS Matiangi, the internal security minister warned politicians with ulterior motive in laikipia to stop, because the government will go after them. CS Matiangi warned that politicians should not use evil tactics for political mileage.
The Cabinet Secretary cautioned that the government knows those politicians, who are planning to chase some residents away to be able to bring in others to register them as voting machines. The government will strongly and decisively deal with such politicians.
He asked whether such politicians wanted to lead graves, since they are using gunned goons to cause chaos in Laikipia. He promised the residents that security personnel will camp in the area for a long time, to ensure security for the residents.
The National government provided food and iron sheets to the displaced residents, and urged district commissioner (DC) to ensure those donations are given to the residents in a justifiable manner. He advised the residents to be home by 6am, due to the curfew as an effort to restore security in the area.
He also hinted that a training camp for commandos will be established in the area, as one way to ensure security in the area. This is a special police personnel who are trained to handle criminals with guns. He also promised Kenyans that the government will beef up security in the whole country, and that no citizens will be chased away from their properties because of political conflicts.
