The US government has so far donated 1.76 million doses of Moderna vaccines to assist the government of Kenya to combat the spread of COVID-19. Vaccination in Kenya has been extremely slow since it’s commencement.
The general public have been reluctant in taking the vaccines due to disinformation propagated by some churches and scientists. Technical challenges have also contributed to the snail pace of vaccination. The government will have to boost its efforts in creating awareness, and ensuring a smooth process, convenient to the public.
There are about 2,050,377 people who have received the first dose and 812,121 out of those are fully vaccinated. With the arrival of donations from USA, more people can be vaccinated to combat the spread of the virus. This will be the most assured away of returning back to normalcy.
The spread of COVID-19 has been escalated by some politicians, who carelessly attract crowds to address them. This happened recently in Ruiru, where huge crowds were witnessed while Ruto and Raila addressed them during their convoys.
