On Monday night police mounted roadblocks on roads around State House ahead of anticipated street protests in the city.
Police also inspected vehicles using the roads, this inconvenienced road users as they became scared. The police claimed that because the State House is such an essentialbuilding, there should be regular security checks.

Police were stationed with spikes at various points on major roads including State House Road, State House Avenue, Dennis Pritt, and Processional Way where they stopped and questioned motorists.
This came after the leaders of Azimio la Umoja declared thatthey would resume their demonstrations against the high cost of living and electoral fraud, among other things, on May 2.
The police plan on trailing protest leaders and dispersing them. The Azimio leaders claim that the police do not have the authority to permit or prohibit meetings and that doing so would be against the law.
The demonstration leaders intend to leave a petition to the National Treasury and Office of the President, both of which are located on Harambee Avenue.
Police fear the crowd might be huge and become out of control hence their move to declare the plans unlawful.
There are rumors that certain rival groups are preparing to assist the police in their battle with the demonstrators because they fear further disruption of businesses which are already struggling.
