Mutura went ahead on Wednesday to claim that the fights are political after he recently declared his support for Deputy President William Ruto and left from Jubilee to United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

On Friday speaker Mutura was presented before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Esther Kimilu who also hit him with an alternative bond of Ksh.1 million. His lawyer pleaded with the court to release him arguing that his arrest was simply meant to embarrass him.

Mutura spent Thursday night at the Muthaiga Police Station where he was confined following day-long interrogations at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters.

Magistrate Esther Kimilu set to mention of the matter on May 16, 2022, further directing Speaker Mutura not to interfere with investigations.
